Las relaciones entre Colombia y Venezuela constituyen una dimensión de análisis importante para las oficinas de la Fundación Friedrich Ebert en ambos países.
Dada la relación histórica, las continuidades culturales, y los flujos migratorios que ambas naciones han compartido a lo largo de su historia republicana, creemos importante fortalecer los espacios de análisis y de diálogo binacional conjunto entre nuestras contrapartes especializadas en el tema en ambos países.
Por esta razón, la FES ha acompañado distintas iniciativas de reflexión y encuentro binacional que puedan orientar a la opinión pública, así como desarrollar ejercicios de incidencia conjunta en los distintos ámbitos de gobierno para mejorar la calidad de la relación binacional.
Después de varios años de ruptura total de las relaciones diplomáticas entre los gobiernos del entonces presidente Iván Duque y el gobierno de Venezuela, en agosto de 2022 con el ascenso de Gustavo Petro al poder, se restablecieron las relaciones diplomáticas entre Colombia y Venezuela.
En mayo de 2023 FESCOL y FES Venezuela, reunieron a un grupo de expertos/as en Caracas para reflexionar y hacer un balance del restablecimiento de las relaciones con el nuevo gobierno en Colombia, y el mismo gobierno de Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela. Las relaciones comerciales, los problemas de seguridad en la frontera, los problemas socio ambientales compartidos y la dinámica de las relaciones diplomáticas fueron los principales temas de análisis y debate de esta iniciativa binacional.
El resultado de estas discusiones se expresa en varios documentos de análisis sobre los temas antes mencionados, que incluyen recomendaciones sobre cómo mejorar la calidad de las relaciones entre ambas naciones dadas las múltiples interacciones, problemas e intereses compartidos que impactan las relaciones entre Colombia y Venezuela.
