Los eventos cotidianos definen nuestra vida, nos forjan recuerdos y experiencias, pero también traen consigo una carga que si no tiende a nivelarse se hace pesada, injusta, invivible. Esta es la realidad de millones de mujeres en el mundo que desempeñan incansables jornadas de Cuidado sin reconocimiento alguno.
Un tema que sale del nicho privado en el que aparentemente debía estar restringido para situarse en el debate político, en el centro de la vida. Dada la gran importancia del mismo para alcanzar un mayor grado de justicia social, el ILDIS-FES Venezuela en el marco del proyecto regional FESminismos, promovió la realización del Taller: La Agenda de los Cuidados en América Latina. Estrategias de Incidencia, los días 23 y 24 de agosto en las inmediaciones de ECOEM. Esta actividad fue concebida para dar a conocer entre mujeres cuidadoras venezolanas, para reflexionar junto a ellas, la importancia de visibilizar el valor que tienen los cuidados y los esfuerzos que distintas organizaciones de mujeres y feministas vienen haciendo en América Latina para que estos sean reconocidos como un derecho.
Las facilitadoras fueron Paula Rodríguez (FES-Caribe) y Elisa Gómez (FES-México), ambas especialistas en el tema de los Cuidados, tanto en el ámbito teórico como en el de su implementación concreta. Igualmente cabe destacar la presencia activa de Anais López, Coordinadora de FES-Venezuela, quien contrastó el debate general con las circunstancias del contexto venezolano, muy desfavorable para el desarrollo integral de las mujeres.
Esperamos que esta primera jornada sobre los cuidados que desarrollamos desde FES Venezuela, sea la primera de una serie que nos permita impulsar una agenda en favor de los derechos para las mujeres que cuidan, y en un sentido más amplio, sensibilizar a la sociedad venezolana y a sus instituciones, en términos de su corresponsabilidad en este tema.
